Whistler Clue Solving Adventure

Turn the Whistler into a clue solving game!

Using your smartphone, you’ll solve clues with each clue leading you on an easy walk from one location to the next, where you'll find an important photo and decipher a clue. This interactive adventure game combines the fun of a scavenger hunt with the clue-solving pressure of an escape room and then adds the thrill of racing against the clock.

Whether you choose to complete as quick as possible or stroll along at a leisurely pace as you explore Whistler Village is entirely up to you. This scavenger hunt style adventure is great to do with families, friends, and groups.

How it works:

• Once you’ve registered your adventure and picked your start date with the game provider, you’ll receive an email with the instructions and the access code. This happens after you’ve activated your experience on Breakaway Experiences’ website.
• Download the free APP onto your smartphone and use the access code to activate your adventure.
• You’ll receive a series of clues on the APP. Each clue will guide you to the next location where you'll solve a puzzle or solve a clue.
• Along the way, you'll visit local icons, uncover hidden places, and experience beautiful scenery.
• Clues are sequential and written with the assumption you have no knowledge of the town.
• Submit the correct answer and you will immediately receive the next clue. Not to worry, directions and hints will be available … but they will cost you a time penalty!
• Solve all the clues and you solve the final mystery!
• The game is most fun when working with other people to find and solve clues. The suggested team size is between 2 to 5 players.

Your Whistler clue-solving adventure: The Blackcomb Burglar

Whistler is in trouble. The RCMP has received a tip that a pesky computer whiz who calls himself ‘The Blackcomb Burglar is planning to hack the software controlling all the lifts on both Whistler and Blackcomb mountains later today and render them all useless.

They have compiled a list of 24 suspects and need your help locating them for questioning. You need to find their names hidden around Whistler Village. Once you have found the first 23 names you should be able to decipher the final clue. Do you and your team have what it takes to unravel the clues to stop a crime!

• Start location: Whistler Resort Centre

• Start time: Start any day any time. Just finish before dark!

• Walking distance: approximately 2.5 km, mostly flat roads in town with a few stairs.

• Average time to complete: 90 minutes plus optional breaks.

• What you need: At least one fully charged cellphone per team (we advise 2+) and footwear for flat walking around town. Dress for the weather.

• Children: This adventure is perfect for families. There are some testing clues so great teamwork will be essential.

Need to know:

• You are not required to buy anything. There will be opportunities for shopping and dining if you wish.
• Please ensure that your phone is charged before you start. Additional phones can be added at no extra cost. You are only required to use the phone for the APP - no internet browsing or photos.
• Bringing a phone charger is a good idea if your battery is weak. You may charge your phone by speaking to the businesses at your scheduled breaks.
• Data plans are only used to activate the adventure and are not used during play.
