Your adventure begins at the tour provider’s headquarters in downtown Kelowna, where you'll be equipped with a top-of-the-line electric bikes for a smooth and enjoyable ride. From there you’ll ride through breathtaking Mission Creek Greenway trails, soaking in the breathtaking views of lush forests and sparkling waters.

Using GPS tracking on your smart phone and on-call support you’ll pedal your way along the cycling trails to Scenic Canyon Regional Park where you’ll meet your skilled bushcraft instructor who will teach you the art of gold panning. Discover the thrill of spotting gold flakes glistening in the creek and try your hand at this age-old activity amidst nature's beauty.

E-bikes: E-bikes work just like a regular bicycle but are slightly heavier, and they only assist you when necessary. With no gas engine, they are quiet and respectful to the environment.  You can cover more distance than our other tours because the e-bikes enable people to go a little further with ease. The e-bikes provide pedal-assisted speeds up to 32 km/h (20 mph), perfect for both efficient travel and leisurely rides.

No prior experience is required. E-bikes are easy to use, and the tour provider will give a thorough tutorial to get you started.

Tour itinerary:

  • Check in with the tour provider in downtown Kelowna for a pre-departure briefing and get geared up / oriented with your e-bike.
  • Ride Scenic Canyon Regional Park, enjoying views of the lake along Abbott Street and the Mission Creek Greenway (approximately 1 hour 15 minutes).
  • At Scenic Canyon Regional Park, you’ll meet your bushcraft instructor and head down to the creek to pan for gold (approximately 1 hour 30 minutes).
  • Ride back to downtown Kelowna on the 45m return journey through vineyards on the southeast wine trail, soaking up some fantastic views along the way (approximately 45 minutes).

  • Helmets, panniers, bike lock, and first-aid kit.
  • All gold panning equipment including a glass vial to take home your glittering finds!
  • A thorough tutorial to before you get started on the tour.
  • Gold pan under the direct supervision of a skilled instructor.
  • Over-boots are provided which will fit over your own shoes or sneakers.
  • Access to a turn-by-turn navigation app with phone mount for easy navigation.
  • On-call support and GPS tracking during your rental period.

Need to know:
  • Riders must be at least 16 years old to ride an e-bike.
  • Participants 16-18 years must be accompanied by a guardian or parent and a liability release and assumption of risk form must be completed prior to departure.
  • Minimum suggested height 5'0" / 152cm.
  • The maximum number of participants on the tour is 6.
  • We recommend bringing comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes, water, sunscreen, and a fully charged phone to use for the routes app.
  • Over-boots are provided which will fit over your own shoes or sneakers. If you prefer you can bring your own water-shoes.
  • This activity requires walking over rocky surfaces during the gold panning portion of the tour.
  • The route is conducted mostly on bike lanes, some sections are along roads with no bike lanes but are in quieter areas.
  • Each e-bike is equipped with panniers to carry small items like snacks, water bottles, and personal belongings.
  • Tour guide gratuities are graciously accepted at your discretion.
