You’ll learn kayak basics, how to launch your boat, paddle in a straight line, turn, and much more. This kayak lesson is a great way to build a new skill set or improve upon what you already know about kayaking.

Need to know:

  • The kayaks come in two basic styles: Sit-on-top kayaks and Sit-inside kayaks. Both are available as singles or doubles. Sit-on-top kayaks are a great choice for nervous or new paddlers as  they're stable, easy to get in and out of with no feeling of confinement.  Depending on availability, you are welcome to choose the style of kayak you prefer.
  • No experience is necessary.
  • Minimum age for participation is 10 years.
  • All necessary equipment is provided.
  • Any paddlers under the age of 16 must be in the front of a double kayak with someone who is at least 19 years of age in the back.
  • Minimum requirement for participation is the ability to swim short distances and tread water even without a lifejacket on.
  • Lessons run rain or shine, unless the conditions are dangerous.
  • Please bring a swimsuit, a towel, sunscreen, and water.
